All good things must come to an end.
Last night was the last night of Jackelope's "Bike Month". Thank God, my head is killing me. Good to see all y'all die-hards out there.
Clown Dog Jam TODAY!
I've bumped into Damon her and there and he's told me a bit about the tour he's embarking on shortly, but if you want to hear about it yourself you should swing by Clown Dog on San Jacinto today and check it out. Here's what I've seen online about the jam so far:
Clown Dog Jam Today! Come out and ride, drink beer and eat chicken. Support Damon and Cuyler who leave next week for Vegas, Damon is riding his handbike and Cuyler on his 20". 1400 miles and almost 2 months of riding, hardcore!
Mmmm, beer and chicken. I rode by there on my way home this morning and saw that they already had the spine set up, so get your 20" down there and tear it up!
Jackelope's at it again: BIKE MONTH IN AUGUST = $1 Lonestars for 31 days straight!
Those wacky followers of the horned rabbit know how brutal the heat of August can be on us cyclists, so they've cooked up an innovative way to assure we remain hydrated. DOLLAR LONESTAR ALL MONTH LONG! Here's the details, straight from the mythical creature's mouth:
We are bringing back bike month! August is f'ing hot, we love bicycles and (most of) the people who ride them, so $1 Lonestar (Tallboys, Longnecks, and pints) whenever you ride down to the bar in August, 11:30 am til 2am everyday. Starts Saturday night at midnite.
Have I told you lately how much I love you guys? You're the best.
Cemetery Cats present: Jessica Sajak's 30th Birthday RIDE!
One of my favorite bike people is having a birthday party today, and y'all are invited! Meet at Jackelope around 5pm for $1 Lonestar and good people, then depart from there for parts unknown to me, but including a bit of a swim:
Come out to help the Cemetery Cats celebrate Jessica Sajak's 30th birthday!!!! We're going to start at the Jackalope at 5PM then cruise around from there.
Bring a bathing suit, free swim will probably be involved.
Bring extra money to buy birthday shots for our little lady.
...
Come out! Come out! Come out!-Cemetery Cats
Follow that advice and get Jessica sauced! Happy birthday Jess!

Bicycle Boulevard Rally & Happy Hour - STARTS IN 1 HOUR!
Here's one for all your politically minded folks with flexible (or no) job schedules and nothing else to do in an hour or so:
RALLY for Austin bicycling at City Hall!
It begins with a ride from Caffe Medici on the Drag, i.e. Guadalupe St. Meet there at 10am, and depart at 10:15am SHARP. The ride will go down the beloved (if not “boulevard”) street of Nueces. We expect the ride to arrive at City Hall with time to spare.
The Nueces/Downtown Bicycle Boulevard briefing item is on the City Council agenda on Thursday, June 24th, at 10:30am or later.
Item # 104: http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/council_meetings/public_meeting_agenda.cfm?me...
It is scheduled to be the second of three items between 10:30am-12noon. The best estimate is that it will start just after 11am. Keep in touch via Twitter: http://twitter.com/lobvaustin
Since this is planned to be only a briefing and not a council vote, there will be no public input (at the microphone) at this meeting. However, we still need to show our support for bicycling in Austin at the City Council Chambers. We can give public input with our presence. By showing the dedication and numbers of bicyclists at City Hall, we will remind City Council that more and better bicycling facilities must continue to come to Austin. Bring your bike pin, bike shirt, and/or other bike paraphernalia, and let’s fill the room.
AFTER the City Council briefing, we’ll head over to Halcyon Coffee Bar Lounge a few blocks away at 4th & Lavaca Sts. Halcyon is offering a special happy hour for us. Just make sure you pick up a League of Bicycling Voters sticker to identify yourself for your happy hour discounts. (Look for Vince.) No, you don’t have to drink (alcohol), but it will be an opportunity to plot, plan, share, and socialize with your fellow interested cyclists.
I would have liked to have been there, but I’m currently in Copenhagen at the Velo-City Global 2010 (bicycle conference). Indeed, here there are many bike boulevards and cycletracks, and indeed, people on bikes, as well. So too in Austin, with dedication from all of us, we will create the Austin of our dreams, the Austin of our future: an Austin full of bikes and public people.
Thanks for organizing this Tom, even though you're suffering for the cause (ha right!) over in Copenhagen. ;) Have fun y'all!
I love The Jackelope. Chupacabra's pretty cool too.
Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE The Jackelope? Best bar in town, bar none! Good pizza, better burgers, and the best damn drink deals in town, like this one strictly for us cyclists:
Bike month at The Jackalope and The Chupacabra starts early! Beginning tomorrow at 11:30 am, and continuing 'til June strikes, we will be serving anyone who rides their bike down $1 Lonestar at The 'Lope, and $1 Tecate at Chupa. We will also be breaking out the "Magic Snowcone" machine on the Chupacabra patio for the Summer. Pedal on down!
