Double-Down II VIDEO direct from Chris Fowlmouth... er, er.

By Jason - Posted on 23 July 2010

I wanted to take a break from posting the 50 events all happening on the same day (Sunday) and throw a little video out there for your perusal:

Chris Fowler shot this last weekend during the Double-down II All-Ladies Alleycat, and managed to capture some really great shit. If you did the race, know someone who did, or just want to know what you missed you should check it out. Good shit Chris! Makes me want to drag my camera out of hiding and start shooting some footage again.

Stunting on a carbon road bike. Woah.

By Jason - Posted on 20 July 2010

Yeah the music is abysmal, but turn it down, crank something to your liking and WATCH THIS VIDEO:

Make sure you watch the VERY end. All that was done on a carbon fiber road bike with platform pedals. DOPE. Ok fixie kids, time to step it up a bit eh?

BRIZM NATION Presents: The Pants Off Dance Off and Shirt Cockin' Ride! THIS SATURDAY!

By Jason - Posted on 13 July 2010

07/17/2010 - 8:00pm

I haven't gotten enough (aka. "any") press out about this event, but there's a BIG THING happening this weekend which combines my 3 favorite topics: bikes, dancing, and not wearing pants. That's right y'all, it's the Pants Off Dance Off/Shirt Cockin' Ride and it happens THIS SATURDAY!

Mark your calendars, stretch your legs, and start picking out your favorite pair of panties because BRIZM NATION is proud to announce OUR FIRST OFFICIAL EVENT... the PANTS OFF DANCE OFF!

Rising like a slippery, hot phoenix from the ashes of Booty Bounce Austin, BRIZM NATION is the newest sensation in butt-shaking recreation. If you were at the already infamous Titty Bop, Booty Drop at Empire, you've had a just tiny taste of the hijinks to come. To everyone that missed out on the nudity and public ludity, don't make the same mistake twice.

PANTS OFF! DANCE OFF!
The name says it all!
Hosted by MISS PRISCILLA
Will there be pants? Highly discouraged!
What about a dance off? With $50 cash prize my good sir!
What kind of music? DJs Disco Tits and Fndmntl Jason will be taking us beyond bounce to newly discovered worlds of auditory ass-shaking.
But what about live music? Have no fear! We've got a full set of NOLA style madness from super freaks Jean Eric.

http://www.myspace.com/jeanerichits

$5 if you're bare below the belt.
$7 for prudes and never-nudes (or modest money bags. We love you too!)
21+ because we're too hot for teens.
10PM-3AM so you can still shake it for an hour after hours!

Ride in with the rowdy posse of the Shirt-Cockin' It bike ride (see atxbs.com for deets) or just show up, under-dressed to impress!

BRIZM NATION: WE are the party... ALL of us!
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/group.php?gid=392634707288&ref=ts

The ride meets at 8pm on the Lamar Pedestrian bridge. The ONLY rule we have for the event is NO PANTS! That's right chilluns' we're gonna be representing the Briz Nation Donald Duck style! After meeting up we're going to cruise on over to the Barton Springs free swim where there'll be competitions for free entrance into the Pants Off Dance Off, where besides being able to shake your ass and get nasty you'll also compete for a $50 cash prize for best dancer!

This weekend is going to rule, I assure you. Still not convinced? Click the big play button for a PROMO VIDEO:

Holy fuck. Briz nation fo' life! See y'all on the bridge this Saturday. I'll have the tunes in tow.

HOLY FUCK: Watch this video.

Thanks for forwarding this Bob. Y'all, please watch this video and don't skip ahead. You'll see why:

Wow. Thanks for sharing this Jason and Dani. I didn't even hear about this incident until just now, but I'm glad y'all made this video of your evening. Be safe out there y'all.

Anybody else excited?

Hot on the heels of the World Cup comes the TOUR DE FRANCE! I love when the only two sports I even marginally care about intersect like this...

Mind = blown. Austin = next?

By Jason - Posted on 03 May 2010

Being all about AUSTIN TEXAS Bike Shit I rarely follow or post news or information from outside the biggest star in the Lone Star State, but this video from Budapest is nothing short of inspiring and I couldn't NOT share it with y'all:

Tilt & Shift Critical Mass from daniel fiantok on Vimeo.

Plus, who doesn't love Gnarls Barkley? Now I know their Critical Mass event only happens twice a year (in the spring and again in the fall) but look at the size and scope of this gathering. They estimate that 35,000 people showed up for this spring's event, which is about 4.6% of Austin's 2008 population, not inluding suburbs or outlying cities within the same metro area. Currently it's estimated that only about .96% of that population (about 7,300 people) commutes by bicycle, but according to the City's Bicycle Plan update they're hoping to raise that number to 2% of the population in the next 5 years, and 5% of the population in the next 10. That means that in 2020 if the city completely stopped growing today (not gonna happen), the City of Austin wants to see almost 38,000 cyclists riding to and from work every day. What you see above is approximately 3000 people less than this. Think about that for a second.

Maybe that video isn't too far away. It might feature us, or it might feature our younger siblings, cousins, children, but it WILL happen. Events like this practically guarantee it in my mind. But then I'm crazy, so take that with a large grain of salt.

Critical Clusterfuck aftermath video

By Jason - Posted on 30 March 2010

Luke just posted up the first publicly available video from last Friday's Critical Mass altercation.

There ARE two sides to every story, but disregarding the hundreds of witness statements they could have gathered as well as lumping ALL cyclists in the area into one big, friendly, car-hating pot is kinda bullshit. I'll shut up now, just watch the video and judge for yourselves.

Locally-made documentary on the Austin Pedicab scene is THE SHIT!

By Jason - Posted on 08 January 2010

The following short film by Ron Swafford on the Austin Pedicabbing Community was uploaded to youtube about a month back, and last week the Austin Pedicab Alliance blog posted notification on their site as well as sent out emails highlighting its' completion, but I wanted to give it some more exposure due to it being such an AMAZINGLY AWESOME view into the local pedicabbing scene specifically, but also of the vibe that permeates the local bike culture as a whole, and that vibe can be summed up in one word:

SMUTTY.

Contained in the 30 minute documentary are some great stories about the odder side of the job, a good deal of dirtiness, thrilling accounts of gun AND fist fights, a smattering of nudity, and lots of HOT HOT HOT pedicabbers pedalling, sweating, twisting and contorting their sinewy bodies as they climb hills, straining under the load... maybe I better stop there before I get myself in any more trouble. Lets just say that the lesbian midget reach-around story is tops.

If you're a local you'll see lots of familiar faces (hey Randal, Juan, Russell, Brandon, Jonathan, Chris, Bob, and all the rest), and they name drop some entertaining celebs. Burt Motherfucking Reynolds, anybody?

Anyway, on with ALL FOUR parts of the documentary "Who Wants a Ride":

Best quotes of the film? "What happens in the cab stays in the cab, as long as we can get the stains out." and "Undercover cops DO NOT TIP."

Thanks for notifying us of this Ken. What a great fucking film. Hey kiddos, this is one to send to the parents when they ask you why you like to bike everywhere in that goofy little Texas town in the hill country.
