I was forwarded this craigslist posting by two of our readers. What makes it interesting is that it has a couple surveillance camera photos of the thieves in action to back it up. Read on for the details:

It was locked up in a covered/partially closed parking lot on the corner of South Congress and Annie. Below I have attached a picture of my bike and pictures of the TWO THIEVES.
My bike is a 2007 Red Trek 1500SL with:
Shimano 105 Components
Cane Creek Brakes
Bontrager wheels
and notably has a assembled by sticker from a bike shop called "Spokes" located in PennsylvaniaPlease note:
The thief on the right was wearing an orange UT tshirt. Has a backpack and a pipe.
The thief on the left was wearing a SF Giants baseball cap. Please contact me if you have any information you can give. I, ofcourse, would love to have my bike returned to me, but I also want these two guys caught.
Thank you.* Location: Annie and Congress

Shit like this is why I always urge people to keep their bikes inside their apartment or house if at all possible. The cover of night and an enclosed garage is JUST what a thief needs to defeat any bicycle locking mechanism. With the right tools and a bit of time even a decent ULock can be pried open by a determined thief. Be careful out there, folks.

anyone know the method/lock that was broken... we need to be one step ahead of these fuckers
Matt
I don't, though the fact that one of the thieves was carrying a length of pipe makes me think they pried open a U-Lock.
Jay and Silent Bob. I'd bet they're hanging around outside Vulcan, selling drugs and hassling customers. Seriously, though, I hope someone recognizes them and turns their worthless asses in.
